Jan Saturdays we host MN, host WMU, on the road to Miami and UMD.
Maybe they do it early and have it the 6th when we host MN.

I expect it'll be early. Especially with it getting warm so early and El Nino possibly coming back for next winter. That'd likely make it a late afternoon game.

Sadly the only way we can probably get on FSN is if it's the Rodent weekend, despite the fact that the WMU game would be better as it's an NCHC game and they're so improved and @UMD would be PERFECT as it's two in-state schools going at it in a historic rivalry with big Conference Points on the line

I wish they'd coordinate with the schools to rotate who's on HDMN exactly like this. Maybe we'd stop calling it Gopher Day MN if they did.

Looks like Ryan had an assist in yesterday's semifinal 4-3 OT win over Sweden.
Ryan stripped the puck from a Sweden defender and fed Sean Dhooghe with 21 seconds left in the extra session. Includes video highlights.

Mel Pearson is leaving Tech for Michigan!

This is the shock of the offseason to me, as from all signs from the Tech fanbase he wasn't gonna take the Michigan job due to a host of reasons.

Nah, it's not. Pearson assisted at Michigan for 22 years before head coaching Michigan Tech for five. Bob was only at UMN for four years and has just finished up his 12th season at SCSU. Mel raised his family in Ann Arbor and head coaching the Wolverines is his dream job. Bob is currently raising his family in St. Cloud.

Coaching Team USA at the WJC was/is a bigger honor to Bob than being asked to coach the gophers. Winning a national championship as head coach of the gophers wouldn't trump his WJC gold. Winning the first national championship in SCSU history would.

I can't say for certain that Bob would never consider coaching for the gophers, but I just don't see it happening for several reasons. 1) Don is still coaching. 2) Bob is only two years younger than Don. 3) The money would have to be a primary motivating factor, and Bob makes a pretty decent amount as SCSU.

I think it's much, much more likely that Potulny will be the gophers next head coach. Bob's not going anywhere... at least until he wins a national title with SCSU!
