No shame today, the Moose went all the way to the end of Double OT with the Big Guys.

They totally made Monti proud today!

Grand Rapids and Micah Miller win the state AA championship game against Moorhead 6-3.
Micah had a goal and an assist and 8 SOG in the game. He also received the 2017 HERB BROOKS AWARD Class AA after the game.

Best state HS hockey tourney that I can remember. And the team called MAML was the hit of the week! They played with all the tools of winners, and #5 Ward was really fun to watch. The Moose insignia was terrific, and the coach was very fun and quotable. They really put on a show.

What a great tournament for my hometown Grand Rapids!! And what a classy kid and excellent hockey player the Huskies are getting in a year or two in Micah Miller. Watching the games I recognized some familiar names--thinking at first I probably know their parents. Oops! That would be GRAND parents.

And the Voice of the Huskies and host of the world famous Bob Motzko Show, Jim Erickson, did a phenomenal job doing all the championship games for both A and AA classes. Aside from the weekend fiasco in North Dakota, it was a fun weekend of hockey.

Another thing: I really got tired of listening to the Minnesota Gopher production of their recruit Casey Mittelstadt. Obviously a very good hockey player, yes. Then at the end of the tournament they name the All-tournament Team. Middelstadt is named, but the announcer states he "is unable to attend." Seriously? It's the fricking MN State Hockey Tournament!! Eden Prairie should be an easy drive to the Xcel. Maybe he had a good reason not to attend the awards ceremony--who knows? ALL the other players not playing in championship game did manage to be there. Middelstadt did have time to submit his obituary on TV45, however. Just sounds to me that he will fit right in for a year with the Gopher.

He did have a 3rd place game to play and i would understand if he didn't want to attend, but given the award you would think he would suck it up and watch a future teammate and a great game. He has bust written all over him, the kind of brat the Gophers typically end up with.

Our recruit in Norway, Christoffer Karlsen, just played in the world's longest hockey game ever. They played for 217 minutes 14 seconds - 8 overtimes! The match started at 6pm and didn't finish until 2:32am! It was 8.5 hours with intermissions etc. They lost.

Pretty sure he's not a recruit anymore. He's been playing pro games.

They are. He's played some with the U-20 team but most have been with their main squad.
