Dave Hakstol is the new head coach of the Philadelphia Flyers.

Still figuring out my new phone so I can't post a link. Saw it on twitter from the NHL and the NCHC among others.

It'll be interesting to see if any recruits de-commit, which is pretty much standard when a coach leaves. I don't think they'll see many de-commits, though, because 1) the facility/resources and 2) Berry and (I'm assuming) Jackson will still be there, who likely had a hand in the recruiting process. So it's not like it's going to be a whole new coaching staff.

Big news, though - I'm pretty stunned.

Sounds like he turned down the job at least once, and they must of made an offer he couldn't refuse. I'd have to assume if this happened at the end of the season they would have had an actual coaching search, maybe they still would have settled on the in house replacement, but this has the potential to knock that program down a little. I would bet they will be fine and continue to be among the best programs in college hockey but I couldn't imagine how I would be feeling right now if it was Motzko.

I think Motzko is thinking I have a shot to make SCSU the premier program in this league. Don't think Hak will do that well and hiring Barry that fast may backfire.
