I assume that's a school record?

The only other year(s) I can see being close would be following the 09 Draft Class which had 5 for-sure players in that year alone

All the same, this just goes to show how far Bob and company have taken this program :D
Conference Regular Season Titles: 1987 (NCHA), 2013 (WCHA), 2014
Conference Playoff Titles: 2001 (WCHA), 2016
Frozen Four: 1987 (DII), 2013

I was looking forward to the Wednesday before Thanksgiving game. I'm a little indifferent on hockey day probably because I usually work Saturdays and it's just a gopher and wild game to me, but it can't hurt to be featured.

I'm loving the fact that there are no Gopher games at all for HDM2017, still all Universities from Minnesota where the college game is concerned; that's a first since I think as Minnesota was out of town in Wisconsin last year if I remember right, of course last year was the first time women's college hockey was added to the HDM events.

I'm bouncing off the walls for this right now, I can only imagine when the weekend finally arrives in 6 months and 15 days. Hope the temp is right for the Women's outdoor game, too bad they can't do the men's game outdoors as well because of scheduling, at least both teams are being included in the day's events.

Sabres' Borgen feels playing in college is important

Buffalo, NY (WGR 550) - Will Borgen is a workhorse at St. Cloud State eating up the most minutes on the defense. Borgen was taken by Tim Murray in the 4th round of the 2015 draft, so this is the his third Prospects Camp. He said it gets easier as he goes along, “It’s been mostly similar stuff, but it’s a new group and I like the new staff.”

Borgen has played 70 games with the Huskies and has decided to go back there for his junior season. He said it wasn’t a hard decision, “Its just school is the number one priority for me right now. I’m trying to get a degree because you can’t play hockey forever. That’s just my mom’s theory.”

I asked if there was an opportunity here with the Sabres if he did want to come out. He said, “I don’t know, it was kind of talked about a little bit, but nothing certain.”

Borgen is the man that the Huskies turn to to play against the opponents best players. He said, “I played top four minutes, but I PK, I don’t power play, 3-on-3 I play and we roll a couple of guys, so yes, I play when my coach tells me to go out.”

“I like it, I had a good D partner in Jack Ahcan who is a very smart player and helps me out a lot, so we like to handle the loads against some good teams and players.”

On Tuesday the Prospects will play a 3-on-3 tournament. Borgen is not like Brendan Guhle who is up-ice all the time. Borgen said, “I just want to play my role, move it up to the forwards and maybe jump in since it’s 3-on-3. If it’s 5-on-5, I play a little bit more defensive game, puck moving, but I’m just going to play my role and just try to get it up to the forwards.”

Borgen is doing what most of these prospects are doing this summer, trying to get stronger. He wants to gain weight and put a little strength on.

Monday’s practices were run by a skating coach with power skating stressed. Near the end of the first session, Hudson Fasching hammered Devante Stephens into the wall during a half ice, competition drill. Stephens left the ice holding his shoulder and never returned.

Tuesday’s 3-on-3 tournament at HaborCenter starts at 9:15.
