Committed Recruits
I don't know anything about this young man--other than the "Troumbly" name was/is a huge name in Northern Minnesota hockey . . .Rabid_Husky wrote:New commit from Greenway. U-14 Bantam A forward Ben Troumbly. Likely will be on Greenway HS next year. Was part of first Greenway Bantam team to make State in 30 years.
Other than that...don't know much.

Now another commit from Greenway program. Christian Miller, son of UMD standout and Mr. Hockey winner Kris Miler. There have been glowing things written about this young man, both about his athletic ability and his character. Sounds like a really good kid and just the type we like At SCSU. Congrats to both Ben and Christian..but now the work begins.

Miller is listed as a defenseman. That's now 3 guys freshmen age committed. Definitely a program high.

Looks like Papa is going to start grad school at AIC, so I put Guttman back on the list for next year assuming the coaches don't add somebody else.

Wow, that's a loaded list of forwards! Do you think Guttman stays in the USHL? That's serious depth! If he's in the right mindset it would be great for him to go back again. I'd think Forster or Fitzgerald can fit in as depth guys in case of injury. Ice time will be at a premium!

If they want 8 D-men then getting a walk on should be the way to go but I won't be shocked if we only have 7 here next year.

I have no problem with him staying in the USHL another year, but I have no problem with him coming in either.FalcoBro8 wrote:Let Guttman play another year in the USHL and get top line minutes there, don't bring him in just for the sake of having an extra body. Kid could be a very special player for State.
Cole just finished off the USHL regular season with 10 points in his last five games, including two hat tricks. He was 9th in league scoring. If it wasn't for 2018 NHL #1 overall draft favorite Andrei Svechnikov, Guttman would have won USHL rookie of the year. The kid would handle himself just fine in the NCHC.
Also, he's clearly going to be a high scholarship recruit, so Cholowski's departure opens up that money for a skilled player like Guttman. If they just bring in a walk-on to fill up the roster, that scholarship money will be wasted on players that would have been here anyway.

Nolan Walker and Culver Academy lost to Mid-Fairfield in the Tier 1 U18 National Semifinals by a score of 3-2. Walker tied for his team's scoring lead with six points in four games.
He is the property of Sioux Falls of the USHL and is expected to play there next season. As I've stated before, I think this kid is underrated. He's a high tempo, high skill player a bit on the smaller side. He's built a bit like Robby Jackson, but he plays a bit more like Eyssimont. Between Walker and Miller, I'm a little more excited for Walker in 2018.

Is he a walk-on or a full commit?
Either way, good to see Bob get a big guy to fill the hole as this team can always use 'em; plus it sounds like he's a dang good player as well so this was a huge coup for the program
And this means the 2 dudes Bob already got to commit will get at least 1 full year of Juniors now as well, so a win on multiple fronts here!

Well, 20 in August anyway. NMU is shedding recruits because of their head coach vacancy.Rabid_Husky wrote:One blue line hole filled.

I feel like I'm going to wear out my recruiting tracker with all the changes lately.
Jaycox probably has some scholarship money, just because scholarship money came available. Stats wise, he isn't that distinguishable from Kuster. Ilvonen, Kuster, Bushy, and Jaycox will be battling each other for ice time on the bottom pair. I think Ilvonen will play more often than not.
