Anybody know where John Opilka is playing? He's not on Omaha's roster, his Twitter is silent, and I can't seem to find him on the interwebs anywhere.

Huh, weird. He still hasn’t played for them yet. Injured maybe?

Christian Miller is starting to pick up a bit as well. Unfortunately, I think the zeal to re-stock the pantry quickly after Motzko raided it has yielded some less than stellar recruits. I hate to sound like I'm advocating for something like this, but Motzko wasn't afraid to jettison recruits when they failed to progress, and I'm afraid Larsen doesn't have the stomach for those difficult choices.

I hate to name names because I'm sure some of this gets back to the players, but there are five recruits in the hopper who committed to Motzko, and I'd only really want to keep one on scholarship and maybe one other as a walk-on. That'd be my first course of action.

As for the rest of Larsen's recruits, I like Miettinen, Ahcan, Bushy, and Randazzo. Jury is still out on Opilka and Beacom. The rest don't excite me much.

Peart is appearing in this HS All-Star game, which is sponsored by Let's Play Hockey but is otherwise independent of Minnesota Hockey, the MSHSL, the Upper Midwest HS Elite League, or any other larger sanctioning body. They are nice rosters, but nothing should be written in to the non-participation of SCSU's other HS recruits.
