Welcome Ben Ward from Annendale
Big part of MAML's tourney run last year, with 7 points in the 3 games in St. Paul.
Led the Moose in scoring with 78 points (28G) in 31 games.
Currently playing for the MN Wilderness in the NAHL, can come back to Monticello for his senior year if he wishes, obviously we'll see but have seen reports he will stay in junior the whole season.

A Moose on the Huskies, amazing!!

My fanboying aside, this is a fantastic pick up for Bob, he is/was the best player on the team and is a difference maker with and without the puck

Did SCSU use up all its travel budget or something? How come all these guys are within biking distance?

Well Annendale isn't but my guess is central MN is just producing better players now.
Meier may be the 1st Sabre to play D-1. I can't find one.

SC Times
Cathedral's Warner verbally commits to SCSU men's hockey team

Not sure why everyone is spelling it Annendale instead of Annandale for Ben Ward. Interesting also that Monticello chose to drop Annandale this year so they wouldn't have to go to class 2A. Probably why Ward is playing for Buffalo this season. Too bad Monticello loses a top player due to the MSHSL rules. They made a great run against Hermantown last year.

Going back to Meier you are right, I couldn't find any either (Sabres that went on to D1). All the players born in Sartell according to Eliteprospects and Hockeydb either played for Apollo (Kent Sauer-UMD one year), Sauk Rapids(Jay Hanson-senior year only-2000 for Bemidji), Cathedral (Keegan Karki-UND 2019) or went the WHL route(Michael and Kurt Sauer).

Going back to this article last spring it looks like Scott Oliver (Great Plains asst coach and Nick Oliver's dad) and Ryan Hacker (former Denver D and Sabres HC) had a big influence on him last year.

Lot's of options for defensemen next year. My guess is that the coaches expect some defections.

Wouldn't expect Meier for next year unless he blows up in Fargo. But I'm sure they are preping for Schuldt and Borgen to bolt. Likely why Ilvonen redshirted too.
