I was just browsing the SCSU archives on USCHO reliving some of the classic games that we've had the pleasure to witness, and I'd like to hear some of your favorite memories from past seasons.

For me, the obvious choices would have to be the thrilling OT win over NoDak for the Broadmoor back in 2001. And more recently our 8-7 win at the Xcel over the Goofers. Those were two of the most obvious choices, and I would expect them to be on any Husky fan's list.

But besides either of those, I would have to say my favorite was back in 2002. We were 2nd in the conference making a run for our first MacNaughton, playing against the lowly UAA Seawolves. We got down early, 2-0 after the first period. I remember the DP hanging their heads, giving up all hope. But that's when the greatest player in the history of hockey stepped up, put the team on his back and scored 4 goals in one period to lead Da Huskies to a 7-4 victory! They should have renamed the Hobey Baker to the Mark Hartigan after that performance. [smiley=banana.gif]

For me no. 1 is the 8-7 OT win. If I had to pick a second, I'd say the Mark Parrish OT hat trick goal at Mariucci was sweet too.

George Awada's three short-handed goals against Tech in the first round of the playoffs - can't recall what year. That is one of my all-time favorites, along with the 8-7 win over the Gophers.

Awada is one of favorite Husky players of all time. That was an awesome night!

another great game was in 93-94 I think and the Huskies were down 3 goals and they took a five minute major at the end of the second period against UND. The students started going nuts over the call and pump up the team. The Huskies not only killed off the penalty but scored three third period goals to earn a tie.

The NHC only had around 4,000 people in there that night, but I bet close to 2,000 were students! The Huskies scored early in the third and whole crowd from that point on stood the rest of the game. That was pound for pound the best crowd at any husky game ever! this is coming from someone who has only missed 6-7 home games since 1992-1993.

I was covering that game for the Chronicle that year and that was still an amazing feat Awada's 3 shorty's.

Not to outdue your story though, that game took place on Feb. 14, 1998 (Valentines Day), though not in the playoff best-of-3.

The 7-5 win over CC in 2001 is definitely in my top 10. The win broke a three game losing streak, and the Huskies went from there to a 19-1-0 record against WCHA opponents (carrying over into the '01-'02 season).

The 8-7 Final Five win over Minnesota is also in my top 10.

And yes, I was present in person for both of these....

I'd have to agree with the triple OT game last year but at the same time I more remember it because of the "We want water!" chat shortly after the 2OT ended, worst planing in the world on the universities part to let concetions close at their usual time... then again, who would have guess we'd go through nearly 3 OTs just to get a victor. I get exhausted at the thought of that game even now... then again it could be the soar shoulders from a seven goal weekend... the'll be even worse this coming weekend with at least four games to be at.

POV wrote: I'm going to limit this to games I was actually at. It's basically between two:

The triple-overtime win against UMD last season, or the 7-5 victory against CC on Feb. 3, 2001, where Dean Weasler was playing for Scotty Meyer after Mark Cullen knocked Scotty out of the Friday game with a concussion and the Huskies came back from a 5-2 deficit in the second period to win the game.

1. Triple OT vs. UMD

2. Big comeback vs. CC

3. Final 5 semi OT vs. Minny

4. Final 5 final OT vs. UND

5. Hartigan's 4 goals against UAA

Easily my Top 5 games (in no particular order). Close is the Final 5 semi from 2001 where we beat the Gophers 3-0.

Can't argue with these, or the other games mentioned.

One that I saw that hasn't been mentioned--1990, I believe, SCSU is hosting Wisconsin.  Huskies win in OT, 6-5 with Chris Scheid getting the game winner for the first win against the Badgers.  Earlier in the game, Husky defenseman Lenny Esau lets go with a blast from the point.  The puck goes through the net (like Arnson's goal against the gophs) but play doesn't stop, and referee Ron Foyt doesn't see it! This was before replay.

Saw the game against Maine at the Icebreaker Tournament in Maine.  Huskies win, 4-2.  Maine was slashing, pushing, hacking through the first period.  Jeff Finger had had enough.  First, he steamrolls one of their guys and gets a five minute major for charging.  Later, he puts Maine's big scorer up against the glass with a massive hit.  The Maine boys then became more polite, and the Huskies beat a very good team.

Great thread, scsuboy!! ;D

My favorite game is rarely mentioned, but it would have to be the OT win over Wisconsin in the semis of the Final Five in Milwaukee in '94.  It was an afternoon game, so it was not as full of Sconnie fans as it could have been.  We were only in the afternoon semi because #10 Tech with Jamie Ram had knocked off Don Lucia's #1 CC team.  That bumped us up from #4 to #3.  I was underage, yet my dad made sure my glass was constantly full.  I think it was SCSU's first trip to the Final Five, so that made it all the more enjoyable.

I can't pick the '01 Broadmoor title game or the 8-7 win over the Goofs because we had big leads in both games and basically wet the bed to let them go into OT in the first place.
