I agree, but I say more power to ya if you can get it. Malone got paid to much as well considering he won't be playing on a top line with Sid the kid any more.

Not to be a Wild apologist, but isn't that what Risebrough and co. were saying about this year's free agent crop? A thin group combined with a higher cap equates to many teams overpaying for the talent that's out there. Rolston was considered one of the top free agent forwards. Wild wanted to sign him, but not for what he was going to be offered by other teams.

These long-term contracts will look like a bargain if these guys produce consistently, but if the production falls off their teams may look to unload them in year 3 or 4. At that time will other teams really be that interested in picking up the remainder of the high price tag?

The wild suck!! They could have gotten Hossa for the stretch run and had a chance at the title and instead they took a dump in the first round.

We would have made a trade for a rent-a-player who couldn't win a title playing with Crosby, Malkin, Malone etc....? No thank you.

Malone was putting up 45 or so points before those two ever got there.

Malone will be a 45-55 point player his whole career really no matter where he goes.

I think he'd do well here since he is already a decent 2-way forward.

Parrish is just getting old and knew he needed to change his game. :)

Or, it could be the Wild's way of saying they are too cheap/**** to take a risk or spend some money. They lose their best, most consistent forward in Rolston because they didn't want to pay him "market" value?? They do NOTHING down the stretch (see Hossa) and lose in the first round. They pay idiot/goons for no apparent reason--Boogard is a joke and Simon was a waste of time and money.

Their defensemen are small, quiet and not very efficient. So who do they re-sign? Foster, with his knee still in many pieces.

And we are blasting Jeff Finger because he signed a 4 year deal worth 14 million?? Suppose that was out of Risebrough's account, too. Same with Malone. Who'da thought he was worth $4 plus mil a year? Well, Tampa Bay did. Finger, by the way, was one of the best defensemen on the Avalanche last year.

Why they let him go and kept Leopold, Foote and Salei is one of the great mysteries of the Western World. Of course, this is the same team that got rid of a decent coach in Quinnville and re-hired Tony Granado. Granado coached the Avs a few years ago, and by most accounts, was the worst coach in the league. Gee, lets give him another chance!!

Matt Hendricks has signed with the Avalanche, too. Curt Sauer went to the Phoenix Coyotes.

I'm not blasting Fings for signing it, I'm blasting Toronto for offering it, same with Tampa and the Malone deal.

Those two just aren't worth that much. The Wild will likely take a step back this year but I'm ok with them not overpaying for mid-level talent players just because everyone else does. They made a strong push for Hossa but he wants a cup. They did offer Rolston over 4+ mil for 3 years he wanted the extra year. Huselius is way overpaid now for a guy who put up points in buckets for 15 games then disappear for 20. Naslund hated the D-first system in Vancouver so he wasn't coming here.

This year's free agent crop was pretty crappy. I love the moves they have made on defense, we just may see younger guys getting bigger roles next year.

Maybe Parrish will rebound and shut some of his critics up. If he spends most of the year healthy and plays on either Koivu or Sheppard's line I see another 25 goal season out of Grumpy.
