Well, we're up to 17 forwards and 8 defensemen slated for the '09-'10 season, so I'm going to do a little trimming and rearranging of my wish list...

Blue Chip

91 - D - Nate Schmidt (St. Cloud Cathedral)

91 - F - Zach Budish (Edina)

91 - D - Nick Leddy (Eden Prairie)

92 - F - Emerson Etem (Shattuck)

Not Dissappointed

90 - F - Tyler Landman (Roseau)

90 - D - Drew Olson (Brainerd)

90 - F - Luke Grenier (Shattuck)

91 - F - Jared Maetche (St. Cloud Tech)

92 - D - Andrew Pitts (Brooklyn Park)

As the emphasis shifts to defense, Leddy becomes a hotter commodity.  He could be an '09 or a '10.

Tyler Landman moves down simply because the Huskies are running out of room .  Luckily, though he'll graduate in '09, I'm sure he'd be understanding if his "college of choice" asked him to play a year in the USHL.  The 2010 class is still wide open, so he could be the first recruit in it.

The same goes for Budish, though like Marvin, his size would help him go right into the WCHA straight out of high school.  I'm sure they could move back an '09 recruit to accomodate him.

Drew Olson is a senior and probably expects to do a year in the USHL anyway, so he could be a fine addition to the '09-'10 blueline.

I still like Grenier's pedigree, and I wouldn't mind at all if he took a "Mosey" path to the Huskies.

The local boy Maetche would HAVE to accept being a '10 recruit.

Pitts is still on there as "get to 'em early" recruit.

I would assume the '08 class is done considering the size of it- but which of these guys could move to '09?

I don't think any of the defense will, and If I had to guess, I'd think Leblanc, Festler or Christian would be the likely 3 choices.

Hepp

Novak

Festler

Christian

LeBlanc

Kieffer

Zabkowicz

Cunti

Rioux

Losing

Nodl

Hartman

Anderson

Brocklehurst

Dey

Mjelleli

TEO, on your wishlist....why no love for Nick Thielen. He and Christian were an awesome 1-2 punch last year.

I hope SCSU is taking a strong look at him.

We'll probably need at least one walk-on for '10. ;)

No offense meant to Thielen, he's got a good chance of going D1.  However, with the limited roster space before the '10 season, I'm trying to keep the amount of '90s and '91s short.  If he's still available when the amount of remaining '10s dwindels, I'd have no problem with Nick being a Husky. However, there are better players at his age still available, so they have to be taken before Thielen gets added to my list.

Fair enough, I do like Thielen's sniper abilities though. I do think he needs to get a little stronger and work on his willingness to dig for pucks.

Wish I was still in Fargo for that reason, Spuds games were fun :)

SCSU is still in the running for Budish.  Why do I get the feeling the Huskies are not one of the "top two" that are mentioned in the article?  :-/

Looking at '09s and '10s now, I don't have any changes to make to the Minnesotan's list.

Blue Chip

91 - D - Nate Schmidt (St. Cloud Cathedral)

91 - F - Zach Budish (Edina)

91 - D - Nick Leddy (Eden Prairie)

92 - F - Emerson Etem (Shattuck)

90 - F - Luke Grenier (Shattuck)

91 - F - Jared Maetche (St. Cloud Tech)

92 - D - Andrew Pitts (Brooklyn Park)

Now, as the junior leagues start up, here's who looks good on paper so far...

USHL

90 - F - Matt Leitner (Ohio)

90 - D - Patrick Wiercioch (Omaha)

90 - D - John Moore (Chicago)

91 - D - Barron Smith (Chicago)

BCHL

91 - F - Clinton Atkinson (Salmon Arm)

91 - F - Steve Oursov (Trail)

AJHL

90 - D - Wade Bergman (Olds)

91 - F - Cole Penner (Brooks)

Penner signed a contract and played in some exhibitions with Prince Albert, so his eligibility is shot.

TEO- If you have Tyler Landman on your list of (not disappointed) you should have Zach Lehrke listed above him. He is a player, much faster then Landman with better hands and scoring touch. I know he i s small but plays with heart.

I don't know, the highest scorer on the best team is hard to pass on, but Lehrke has outscored him in every head to head comparison I could find.  Honestly, I was about to move Landman to the bottom or OFF my list entirely.  I suppose I could find room for Lehrke.  The only problem is, he's a senior this year.  If he's good with two years in the USHL, I'd put him on my list as a potential '10.  The same goes for Landman.

How's this?

I don't know what kind of potential this kid has, but I noticed he was having a pretty decent Elite League. Dan Delisle from Totino-Grace is a huge (6'3" 209), young (9/21/90), and is a junior this year. He was second for the Eagles in points last season. One person who saw him play described him as "ok", but like most big kids, if he can learn to skate really well he'll be worth something. I'm not putting him on my wishlist, but I thought I'd just bring his name up as somebody to watch.
