Apparently SCSU was interested in this kid. I guess he'd rather not play for a winning team.

9. F - Jeremy Morin (NTDP, probably going Major Junior)

23. F - Eric Haula (Finnish kid coming to Shattuck)

30. D - Dylan Olsen (AJHL stud, hot commodity)

Is this Dylan Olsen going major junior? Doesn't the studs from AJHL usually go Major Junior?

[/quote]
I suppose it's a possibility, but he's still on Camrose's roster as of today.  His point totals aren't gaudy, but he started in the AJHL in '06, which is the equivelant of a 1993 playing in juniors this season.  Imagine a 1992 born defenseman scoring half a point per game this coming season!!  Such a player would definately be a hot commodity... especially if he was 6'2" 195lbs!!

If he stays in the AJHL, and he's drafted in '09, it's doubtful that an NHL team would take him right away.  Would he really go to major junior at that point?  I would think college would be the better option.  Why not SCSU?

Here's the Hot 15 from CHRE...

1. Jeremy Morin (F/91) - NTDP Until he says otherwise

2. Dylan Olsen (D/91) - Camrose-AJHL

3. Jared Tinordi (D/92) - NTDP

4. Austin Madaisky (D/92) - Penticton-BCHL

5. Jacob Fallon (F/92) - NTDP

6. Christian Isackson (F/92) - St. Thomas Academy HS

7. Eric Haula (F/91) - Shattuck St. Mary's Prep

8. Brendan Rempel (F/91) - Avon Old Farms

9. Chasen Balisy (F/92) - NTDP

10. Derek Forbort (D/92) - Duluth East HS

11. Brandon Saad (F/92) - NTDP

12. Matt Nieto (F/92) - NTDP

13. Emerson Etem (F/92) - Shattuck St. Mary's Prep

14. Ben Marshall (F/92) - Mahtomedi HS

15. Matt MacKay (F/90) - Calgary-AJHL

Apparently not. :) It would be nice to start winning some battles for defensemen.

I agree.  Getting high end defensemen has been Motzko's recruiting weakness to date.  I would think having Rud as an assistant would start to bear fruit in that area, but I have no inside knowledge as to who identifies potential recruits, etc.

I don't think identifying them is the problem. They have been second on a couple different high end guys. Oh, well we ahv eto give the coaches time to get their guys. This kid wouldn't even be coming for two or three years.

Keep an eye on how Joe Hartman and Nick Jensen do in the USHL this coming season.  If they transition well, either could move into the "high end" recruit territory, and SCSU should be near the top of the list for both of them.

Personally, I'm glad SCSU lost the battle for Martell. ;)

After the first day of camp, Hansen has a goal and LeBlanc has no points.

Minnesota's highest profile player, Seth Ambroz from New Prague, is tied for second with two points.

The Select 15 Camp is all wrapped up. GPL has a list of how the Minnesotans scored, so I won't bother posting it here. Suffice it to say that New Prague's Seth Ambroz dominated. However, White Bear Lake's Max Birkinbine had a nice camp pointswise, as did St. Cloud Tech's Matt Hansen, who should now be solidly on SCSU's radar as somebody to keep an eye on.

Alas, Brian LeBlanc did not light up the scoreboard after tallying just one assist, but I'm sure that will only provoke him to try even harder. It seems like, in hockey, the younger brothers tend to out perform the older brothers. I certainly hope that's the way it plays out in Brian's case, and that he would also like to follow in Drew's footsteps.

TB thinks anyone who doesn't start each sentence with "F**king Dahl" is a traitor.  ;D

He also thinks private schools are inherently evil as they steal all of those high-end hockey players from Irondale.  ::)  If it weren't for Totino-Grace, Benilde, St. Thomas, and Hill-Murray the Knights would return to their prominence of yesteryear.  ;D
