Kyle Rau made a last minute decision to skip his senior season playing for Eden Prairie HS to play for Sioux Falls of the USHL instead. The Strib article implies that while many players are offered scholarships with the contingency of playing a year of juniors, Rau was not. Apparently, the goofers coaching staff only recently altered the terms of agreement.

The request isn't the **** part... the timing is.

Dylan Olsen will be leaving UMD and turning pro. Apparently he wouldn't have been eligible for the 2nd half anyway.

I heard that on the world junior coverage. Did you read it any place and is there a story on it? It sounds like a kid who wasn't interested in school. Good thing for him he is one hell of a player and will make the show one day.

Yeah I just went over there and saw that. from the sounds of it this kid had school issues before college. I wondered how UMD got him and this must be why... ;D

I do find it funny on the fan's perspectives of him. UMD fans hate they are losing their best d-man and on HF, Canadians are just ripping him to pieces about how awful he is for Canada.

For those wanting Schmidt for our defense, he may not be a defenseman much longer.

“I thought Nate Schmidt played well at forward tonight” said Lucia, also noting that it’s a very good chance he’ll be in the lineup at that position for the foreseeable future.

There were quite few Gopher fans who thought he was overrated when they signed him. I also heard a rumor Lucia didn't know Schmidt was given a offer buy one of his assistants....How much any of this true we will probably never know.

Alex Kangas is having season ending surgery. Not really sure if this is good or bad, Patterson looked much better than Kangas this season.

I talked to Danny at the game Saturday night...he said the Doctors told him 90% of injuries as severe as his end up with amputation. He feels very fortunate to have all 10 toes..and to have a hockey career ahead of him. I for one, wish him well...I have always liked the way he plays and at least he didn't go to UM.

However, those toes will never be the same. If not now, he will have problems with them in the future.

I was in Grand Forks last weekend and the word was that a couple of UNO players snuck out and went to a bar after the Friday game. I wonder if he was one of them.
